Colombia name South American under-17 squad

Colombia named 23 players for the South American Under-17 Championship under coach Fredy Hurtado. The squad was due to travel to Paraguay on 31 March and play its group fixtures at the CARFEM stadium in Ypané during the April competition.
The team had been based at the federation’s Barranquilla training centre since 18 March. Morning sessions concentrated on physical and muscular preparation, with afternoons devoted to developing their playing approach for the continental opponents awaiting them in Group A.
The announced programme began against Ecuador on 5 April, followed by Chile, Uruguay and hosts Paraguay. The selection included Atlético Nacional’s Samuel Martínez, Simón Rojas and José Escorcia, while Álex Gómez represented the New York Red Bulls among the listed players.
