Croatia defeated Iceland 34–33 in the men’s European Championship bronze-medal match in Herning. The result gave the 2025 world silver medallists another major podium finish after both teams had lost their semi-finals two days earlier in the tournament.
Matej Mandić’s saves and Tin Lučin’s attacking contribution helped Croatia establish a five-goal first-half lead. They entered the interval three ahead, then extended the advantage to six with ten minutes remaining as Iceland struggled to complete a sustained recovery.
Iceland nevertheless reduced the deficit to a single goal near the end, creating a tense conclusion. Croatia held on to secure the medal. The match preceded the final between Denmark and Germany and concluded the Icelandic side’s pursuit of a European podium place.
