The Australian’s third-round victory continued a five-year sequence at his home major.

Alex de Minaur defeated Frances Tiafoe 6–3, 6–4, 7–5 to reach the Australian Open fourth round. The world number six prevailed after two hours and forty-three minutes at Rod Laver Arena, combining exceptional movement with thirty-one winners in the contest.
Tiafoe threatened early and mounted a late recovery in the third set, but De Minaur found decisive points when needed. He broke at 5–5 after a prolonged game and converted his third match point while saving another break opportunity in the final game.
De Minaur became the second Australian man in the Open Era, after John Newcombe, to reach the tournament’s second week in five consecutive years. The victory set up a fourth-round meeting with Alexander Bublik, who had defeated Tomas Martin Etcheverry in straight sets.
