Source publication date:
EHF announced a Female Referee Course in Poreč, Croatia, for 20 April as part of efforts to increase women's involvement in officiating. The course will bring together six candidate pairs, comprising five female pairs and one mixed pair.
Participants represent Bulgaria, France, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania and Slovakia. Federation experts will deliver sessions on refereeing, coaching and mental training, supporting preparation for continental roles within the wider Women's Handball Roadmap 2029 programme.
EHF's spring 2025 assessment found twenty-one female pairs among 127 registered referee pairs, or seventeen per cent. Eleven of thirty-six candidate pairs were female. The federation identified greater representation and professional development as priorities, using the new course to strengthen the route into officiating.
