Spain survive an Austrian recovery to take a second group victory

Spain defeated Austria 30–25 in Herning to record a second European Championship preliminary victory. The result strengthened Spain’s position in group A while leaving Austria without a point and still seeking a first win under new coach Iker Romero.
Spain led 19–12 at half-time after Austria’s risky seven-against-six approach produced turnovers. Goalkeeper Sergey Hernández made eight first-half saves and scored into an empty net, helping establish a substantial advantage before the interval.
Austria recovered after the break behind Constantin Möstl, cutting the gap to four goals at 24–20. Spain held firm, with Hernández finishing on thirteen saves and receiving the player-of-the-match award; eleven Spanish outfield players scored.
