Denmark defeated North Macedonia 36–24 in Herning to begin their European Championship group B campaign with two points. The Olympic and world champions led throughout at a sold-out Jyske Bank Boxen, where 15,000 spectators supported the co-hosts’ opening performance.

Simon Pytlick scored nine goals and Mathias Gidsel added eight, giving the pair seventeen in total. Denmark led 17–12 at the break, with goalkeeper Emil Nielsen’s saves and effective fast breaks establishing the foundations of their advantage.

Nielsen finished with ten saves as North Macedonia’s defensive adjustments failed to halt the Danish attack. Martin Serafimov scored six for the visitors, including the national team’s thousandth European Championship goal; Pytlick received the player-of-the-match award.
