Source publication date:
The Faroe Islands and Switzerland drew 28–28 in their European Championship group D opener in Bærum. A match that changed direction several times left both teams on one point, behind Slovenia, and extended the Faroese wait for a first victory at a major tournament.
The Faroe Islands led 15–13 at the break and extended that advantage to 18–13 early in the second half. Switzerland answered with a 6–1 run after a timeout, then held their opponents scoreless for thirteen minutes.
Manuel Zehnder put Switzerland ahead late, but a save by Pauli Jacobsen gave Vilhelm Poulsen the opportunity to equalise. Elias á Skipagøtu scored nine and received the player-of-the-match award; Noam Leopold contributed seven for Switzerland.
