Source publication date:
France defeated Norway 38–34 in Bærum to finish first in European Championship group C. Both teams had already qualified, but France’s victory earned two points to carry into the main round while Norway began that stage without any carried points.
Norwegian goalkeeper Torbjørn Bergerud made eight saves in the first twenty minutes, yet France still built a five-goal advantage. Norway cut that deficit to three by half-time, when France led 20–17, helped by Tobias Grøndahl and Sander Sagosen.
France maintained control after the interval and responded to a late challenge with two successive goals following a timeout. Sagosen scored nine, reaching 212 European Championship goals and moving above Stefan Lövgren in the tournament’s all-time scoring list.
