Denmark overcome Germany to claim the first semi-final place
Germany and Denmark finished 26–31 in Herning.
Source publication date:
Denmark defeated Germany 31–26 in Herning to secure the first European Championship semi-final place. Spain’s earlier victory over France had made the match a direct opportunity to qualify, and Denmark took it with a stronger final twenty minutes after a closely contested start.
Germany began with David Späth in goal, and his performance helped keep the interval deficit to one at 13–12. Denmark went through a nine-minute scoring drought across the break before finding a decisive 4–1 run.
Emil Nielsen made fourteen saves and received the match award, while Mathias Gidsel and Simon Pytlick scored eight each. Germany’s remaining route to the semi-finals required at least a point from their final match against France.
