Germany defeated defending champions France 38–34 in Herning to claim their seventh European Championship semi-final appearance. Juri Knorr scored ten goals as Germany registered their first victory over France at the tournament since 1998, ending a long wait in this fixture.

Knorr scored six times in the opening sixteen minutes and Germany led 19–15 at half-time. France fought back behind goalkeeper Rémi Desbonnet, narrowing the difference to a single goal at 27–26 in the forty-seventh minute.

Andreas Wolff then contributed important late saves, while Lukas Zerbe and Julian Köster supplied the decisive goals. Dika Mem finished with eleven for France, but Germany joined Denmark, Iceland and Croatia in the final four.
