Germany beat Spain to carry two points into the main round

Germany defeated Spain 34–32 in Herning to complete their European Championship preliminary campaign with a main-round place. Spain had already qualified, but the match determined which team would carry two points forward; Germany’s victory gave them that advantage for the next stage.
Renārs Uščins, Juri Knorr and Julian Köster combined for nineteen goals. Germany led 17–15 at the interval and maintained a narrow advantage through a physical second half, as Spain continued to challenge without overturning the lead.
Uščins scored his eighth goal in the fifty-eighth minute to make it 33–29 and was named player of the match. Germany’s win was their first over Spain at an EHF EURO since the 2016 final.
