Iceland’s win over Poland extends their European record run

Iceland defeated Poland 31–23 in Kristianstad to register a fourth consecutive European Championship victory, setting a national record at the tournament. The result followed their opening win against Italy and continued a strong start to the group F preliminary campaign.
Neither side initially converted chances consistently, but Iceland reached half-time ahead 13–10. The decisive period came soon after the restart, when an 8–3 run stretched the advantage to eight goals despite a temporary numerical disadvantage.
Orri Freyr Þorkelsson led Iceland with six goals, while Haukur Þrastarson contributed five from six attempts. Ómar Ingi Magnússon was named player of the match as Poland’s turnovers gave Iceland repeated opportunities to accelerate away.
