Slovenia recover a nine-goal deficit to secure their main-round place

Slovenia defeated Switzerland 38–35 in Bærum after overcoming a nine-goal second-half deficit. The comeback gave Slovenia a second European Championship preliminary victory and guaranteed their main-round place, while leaving Switzerland dependent on the final group D fixtures.
Switzerland led 20–14 at half-time and scored three unanswered goals after the restart to make it 23–14. Slovenia then recovered, with Miljan Vujović’s arrival in goal helping reduce the difference to four with fifteen minutes remaining.
Slovenia equalised in the fifty-third minute and scored the final three goals from a 35–35 tie. Domen Makuc, Domen Novak and Andraž Makuc contributed six each, while Swiss goalkeeper Nikola Portner’s eleven saves earned the match award.
