England defeated New Zealand by four wickets in Colombo to complete three victories from three T20 World Cup Super Eight matches. Already qualified for the semi-finals, England recovered from 58/4 to chase a target of 160 in 19.3 overs.

Will Jacks finished unbeaten on 32 from 18 deliveries, while Rehan Ahmed added 19 from seven balls. Their late acceleration followed useful contributions from Tom Banton and Sam Curran, turning a difficult chase into another successful finish.

England had earlier restricted New Zealand to 159/7, with all seven wickets falling to spin. Adil Rashid, Jacks and Ahmed took two wickets each. New Zealand’s semi-final position remained dependent on the subsequent Pakistan–Sri Lanka result following this defeat.
