Ireland head coach Scott Bemand appointed Erin King captain for the 2026 Women’s Six Nations. The twenty-two-year-old flanker recently returned from a serious knee injury and will lead the team into its opening match against England at Twickenham on April 11.

King made her Test debut against Australia in 2024 and has seven international appearances and three tries. Her performances in Ireland’s WXV1 campaign included two tries in the victory over New Zealand, and she received World Rugby’s women’s breakthrough-player award that year.

She previously played on the international sevens circuit, debuting in Dubai in 2021 and representing Ireland at the Paris Olympics. Her captaincy begins as the squad prepares for a championship featuring home matches in Galway, Belfast and Dublin during the spring.
