The men’s European Cup returned with the first legs of its last-sixteen ties. Five matches finished with margins of three goals or fewer, leaving much of the round unresolved before the return fixtures scheduled for the following weekend.

Konjuh Živinice defeated Buzau 28–26 after both teams produced several scoring runs. The hosts built an early five-goal advantage, lost control during the middle period and then recovered the lead in the final ten minutes through Rijad Sinanović and teammates.

Tatabánya overturned a four-goal half-time deficit to beat Runar Sandefjord 35–33. A five-goal second-half run shifted the match, with Daniel Mosindi making a significant contribution. Runar’s late goals limited the Hungarian club’s first-leg advantage to two rather than allowing a wider separation.
