FIDE issued a reminder that revised Swiss Rules had applied since 1 February. The updated provisions appear in the federation’s handbook and govern relevant tournaments and pairing procedures, including the Basic Rules for Swiss Systems and the FIDE Dutch System.

The amendments refine pairing procedures and clarify the handling of byes. Structural changes are intended to help arbiters and endorsed pairing software apply the rules consistently, with organisers, players and software providers among the audiences addressed.

The federation also pointed to related equipment and play-off regulations that became effective on 1 March. It encouraged officials to consult the updated texts together when administering competitions, identifying technical commission secretary Hendrik du Toit as the contact for questions.
