The first FIS Freeride World Championships produced four inaugural champions at Ordino Arcalís in Andorra. Liam Rivera won men’s snowboard, Mia Jones won women’s snowboard, Ben Richards won men’s ski and Zuzanna Witych won women’s ski.
The championship took place on the Basser Negre face after substantial snowfall delivered 150 centimetres of fresh snow. Initial cloud affected visibility before improving conditions allowed the competition to proceed on the venue, which last hosted the international freeride circuit in 2018.
France, the United States and Canada headed the nation rankings. The completed event established world championship winners across all four categories, adding a national-team championship setting to the sport’s established international freeride competitions.
