FIS outlined climate awards for a national ski association and local organising committee, alongside a separate honour for athlete-led action. The programme shifted its annual environmental focus from biodiversity to climate, using the federation’s carbon dioxide calculator to connect emissions data with practical decisions and reductions.

Applications for the organisational awards are assessed across data transparency, use of the tool at events, integration into decisions, evidence of reductions and communication. Representatives of the United Nations Sports for Climate Action framework will join the jury reviewing the submissions.

The winning federation and organiser will receive recognition at the autumn technical meetings and financial support for further work. The athlete award covers projects, advocacy and ideas contributing directly to lower-carbon practices in snow sports.
