Five different scorers help Germany defeat Pakistan
The Australian women and Indian men also lost their opening home matches in the February stages.
Source publication date:
Germany’s men defeated Pakistan 5–2 on the second day of the Pro League stage in Hobart. Five different players contributed goals, spreading the attacking return across the team during a match played in rainy conditions in Tasmania.
Christopher Rühr opened the scoring after receiving an unmarked baseline pass and finishing a well-worked team move. Pakistan remained competitive through an active opening quarter, but Germany made better use of their opportunities and established the decisive advantage over the course of the encounter.
The same day brought difficult home starts for the Australian women in Hobart and India’s men in Rourkela, with both defeated. The official report therefore connected Germany’s distributed scoring performance with contrasting results for the hosts at the two simultaneous competition venues.
