Source publication date:
Fourteen-year-old Gorkem Ocal won the men’s title at the Turkish Senior Individual Championship in Ankara. Ece Harac claimed the women’s singles crown at Mamak Sports Hall, where entry requirements based on international rankings and national league positions produced fields of 31 men and 44 women.
Ocal defeated older and more experienced opponents before finishing ahead of Ibrahim Gunduz. Three-time defending champion Abdullah Talha Yigenler was absent through injury, opening the competition to a new winner after several seasons of his success.
Harac led a women’s result in which national team members occupied the first four positions. Simay Kulakceken finished runner-up, with Ozge Yilmaz and Sibel Altinkaya completing the leading places in the championship standings.
