Italy returned to the discipline’s top step for the first time since 2019.
Source publication date:
Italy won the 4x6km mixed relay in Nove Mesto na Morave in 1:03:11.7. Dorothea Wierer, Lisa Vittozzi, Lukas Hofer and Tommaso Giacomel used ten spare rounds, with Giacomel’s final leg turning a deficit into a clear victory.
France led by fourteen seconds at the last exchange, but Giacomel moved ahead at prone and increased the gap with fast skiing and standing shooting. France finished second, 24.7 seconds behind, while Czechia claimed third after Michal Krcmar’s powerful closing leg.
The United States finished fourth, equalling its best result in the event. Italy’s win was its third mixed relay success and first since Oestersund in November 2019, when Wierer, Vittozzi and Hofer also raced in the winning team.
