Hector wins Spindleruv Mlyn giant slalom
Moltzan and Shiffrin helped place four Americans inside the first eight.

Sara Hector won the women’s giant slalom in Spindleruv Mlyn for her first World Cup victory of the season. The reigning Olympic champion added an eighth career giant slalom win after a strong performance across the two runs.
Paula Moltzan posted the fastest second run and finished second, 0.18 seconds behind. Mikaela Shiffrin placed third for her first giant slalom podium in almost two years. Camille Rast and Nina O’Brien completed the top five.
Swiss athlete Sue Piller finished a career-best sixth on her eleventh World Cup start, racing from bib thirty-four. AJ Hurt took eighth, meaning four Americans finished in the first eight. Julia Scheib failed to finish but retained the giant slalom standings lead.
