Hodonin established a narrow advantage in its women’s Europe Cup quarterfinal by defeating Novi Sad 3–2 at home. The Czech club needed the fifth and final match to decide the opening leg, leaving the tie closely balanced before the return encounter in Serbia.
Binyue Zhang gave Hodonin an early lead against Sara Radak, but Aneta Maksuti defeated Karin Grofova to level. Marketa Sevcikova restored the home advantage with a straight-games win over Reka Bezeg before Maksuti again equalised, this time against Zhang.
Grofova returned for the deciding contest and defeated Radak in straight games. The result secured the first-leg win, although Novi Sad’s two points kept it firmly in contention for a semifinal place.
