DPR Korea qualified for the 2027 Women’s World Cup by defeating Chinese Taipei 4-0 in their Asian Cup playoff. Hong Song Ok scored three times at Gold Coast Stadium, helping the team secure their first appearance at the global finals since 2011.
Chinese Taipei goalkeeper Cheng Ssu-yu made several early saves before Hong headed in Kim Kyong Yong’s cross. DPR Korea carried the lead into half-time and quickly extended it after the restart when Hong met Choe Il-son’s delivery.
Kim Kyong Yong added a third with another header before Hong completed her hat-trick from a deflected effort. Chinese Taipei struck the crossbar late but could not recover, leaving their qualification hopes dependent on the intercontinental playoff tournament.
