Hong Kong opens entries for world team rapid and blitz
The June championship reserves places for mixed teams of professionals and recreational players.
Source publication date:
Team registration opened for the fourth FIDE World Team Rapid and Blitz Championships, scheduled in Hong Kong from 16 to 22 June. The competition follows earlier editions in Düsseldorf, Astana and London and combines elite players with recreational participants.
Matches take place over six boards. Every team must field at least one woman and one recreational player, defined by the championship’s rating criteria. Teams may include players from different federations, allowing clubs and other organisations to build international line-ups.
The venue can accommodate forty-two teams: ten selected by rating, twenty-six through registration order and six organiser wild cards. Entries close at noon Lausanne time on 15 May, with a registration fee of €1,000 per team.
