Henry Leung and Tomato Ho won five-game comebacks on the Australian Open’s first day in Brisbane. Leung defeated Velavan Senthilkumar 5–11, 11–8, 11–13, 11–6, 11–2, recording his first Gold-level victory since the same tournament a year earlier.

Ho beat Joelle King 11–1, 6–11, 8–11, 11–7, 11–8, likewise recovering from a two-game-to-one deficit. All four Australian wildcards lost on the South Bank Piazza show court, with Joseph White, Dylan Molinaro, Madison Lyon and Jessica van der Walt exiting the event.

Melvil Scianimanico, Iker Pajares, Hollie Naughton and Ka Yi Lee advanced at those home players’ expense. Grace Gear survived an all-English five-game match against Alicia Mead. Torrie Malik and Matias Knudsen also won, continuing their form from the previous week’s New Zealand tournament.
