India stays perfect as Japan earns first Under-19 World Cup win
Japan’s historic result came against Tanzania in the placement play-off.

Japan recorded its first victory in men’s Under-19 World Cup history by defeating Tanzania in the placement bracket. Nihar Parmar took four for 30 as Tanzania collapsed from a promising position to 131, losing seven wickets for thirteen runs.
Parmar then made an unbeaten 53 and shared a 122-run stand with Taylor Waugh, guiding Japan home in 28.2 overs. His contribution with bat and ball earned the player of the match award on a landmark day for the team.
India also completed its group programme with three wins from three matches, beating New Zealand by seven wickets. A 76-run partnership from Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre accelerated the chase, which finished in only 13.3 overs.
