India and Pakistan face decisive Under-19 World Cup meeting
Pakistan needs a substantial win to overcome India’s net run-rate advantage.
Source publication date:
India and Pakistan prepared to contest the final remaining semi-final place at the Under-19 World Cup in Bulawayo. Australia, England and Afghanistan had already qualified, leaving the rivals’ last Super Six match to determine the fourth team in the knockout phase.
India would advance with a victory. Pakistan needed both to win and to overcome a significant net run-rate deficit, so the margin of the result mattered as well as the match outcome.
The ICC illustrated the requirement with a possible Pakistan score of 250: it would need a victory by at least 89 runs. If chasing 251, Pakistan would have to complete the target in 33.2 overs or sooner, with other targets producing different calculations.
