The Indian Wells draw placed Aryna Sabalenka and Amanda Anisimova in the same quarter as all ten leading women entered the tournament. Sabalenka returned after skipping the Middle East swing, with Victoria Mboko, Naomi Osaka, Iva Jovic and Emma Raducanu also in that section.
Coco Gauff and Jasmine Paolini headed another quarter containing Alexandra Eala and former champions Paula Badosa and Bianca Andreescu. Jessica Pegula’s section included Elena Rybakina, Belinda Bencic and Madison Keys, creating several possible meetings among established major finalists.
Defending champion Mirra Andreeva shared the final quarter with Iga Swiatek, Elina Svitolina and Doha champion Karolina Muchova. Opening-round pairings included Paula Badosa against Yulia Putintseva and Zeynep Sonmez against McCartney Kessler, with seeded players beginning after first-round byes.
