Agrusti and Fiorini win Italy’s first marathon race-walk titles
Wind and rain shaped the inaugural 42.195km national championships.

Andrea Agrusti and Sofia Fiorini won the senior titles at Italy’s first national marathon race-walking championships in Acquaviva delle Fonti. The 42.195-kilometre distance had entered the international programme for 2026.
Agrusti won in 3:19:46 after taking control late in a race affected by strong wind and heavy rain. Stefano Chiesa finished second in 3:20:02 and Aldo Andrei third in 3:20:48.
Fiorini secured her first senior national title in 3:27:19, also winning the under-23 category. Federica Curiazzi took second in 3:41:43 and Lidia Barcella third in 3:47:27. Fiorini received the newly introduced women’s champion jersey bearing the feminine Italian title.
