Japan defeated Vietnam 4-0 in Perth to finish first in Women’s Asian Cup Group C. The two-time champions collected nine points without conceding and advanced to a quarter-final against the Philippines, while Vietnam’s tournament ended at the group stage.

Riko Ueki headed in Yui Hasegawa’s cross to open the scoring during the first half. Vietnam goalkeeper Khong Thi Hang then made several saves to keep the deficit at one, denying Japan further opportunities before the interval.

Japan maintained their pressure after the restart. Maika Hamano finished Momoko Tanikawa’s pass before Aoba Fujino added the third from another Tanikawa-created opening. Kiko Seike completed the scoring after combining with Hinata Miyazawa, sealing Japan’s third successive win and the group’s leading position.
