Japan beat the Philippines 7-0 in Sydney to reach the Women’s Asian Cup semi-finals and qualify for the 2027 World Cup. The victory established a meeting with Korea Republic and confirmed Japan’s tenth appearance at the global tournament.
Philippines goalkeeper Nina Meollo made several saves before Japan finally scored near half-time through Mina Tanaka. Toko Koga then headed in a corner to give the favourites a two-goal lead at the interval.
Japan added five goals after the break, with Remina Chiba and Manaka Matsukubo scoring before Koga completed her brace. Momoko Tanikawa and Riko Ueki finished the scoring late on.
