McKennie cancelled out Banda’s opener, but Falcone saved a Jonathan David penalty.
Source publication date:
Juventus began the year with a 1-1 Serie A draw against Lecce at the Allianz Stadium. Lameck Banda scored for the visitors during first-half added time before Weston McKennie brought Juventus level shortly after the interval.
Jonathan David had an early header pushed onto the post by Wladimiro Falcone. Juventus continued creating chances, but the Lecce goalkeeper also saved David’s second-half penalty after a VAR review identified a handball by Mohamed Kaba.
The hosts threatened again late on without finding a winner. Kenan Yıldız struck the post in added time and Loïs Openda could not convert the rebound, leaving Juventus with one point from the matchday-eighteen fixture despite their sustained attacking pressure.
