Emmanouil Karalis cleared 5.93 metres at the Orlen Cup in Lodz, establishing the early-season men’s pole-vault world lead. The Greek athlete’s performance preceded Armand Duplantis’s planned season debut.

Angelina Topic opened her high-jump season at the same meeting with 1.98 metres, a Serbian indoor national record matching her outdoor best. The two jumping performances headlined FIDAL’s 26 January international review.

The world-leading description referred to the standings at the time of the January report. It did not make 5.93 a world record or predict the final season rankings; Topic’s record was specifically an indoor national mark.
