Kauf and Viel win the dual moguls opener
The United States swept the women’s top four as Viel earned his first victory.
Source publication date:
Jaelin Kauf won the season’s first World Cup dual moguls event in Val St. Come, defeating Elizabeth Lemley 23-12 in the women’s final. Tess Johnson beat Olivia Giaccio for third, giving the United States all four leading positions.
Canada’s Julien Viel earned his first World Cup victory in the men’s event. He defeated Ikuma Horishima 20-15 despite finishing almost one and a half seconds slower, showing how control and judged performance could outweigh speed on the difficult course.
Filip Gravenfors won the men’s third-place contest against Olli Penttala. Rain that froze overnight created challenging conditions, and Viel described choosing a measured approach to avoid injury. His success followed Mikael Kingsbury’s moguls milestone win at the same home venue.
