Kazakhstan’s SAMBO nationals draw 517 athletes
Karaganda hosted a key selection meeting for the international season.
Source publication date:
Kazakhstan’s national SAMBO championship brought 517 adult athletes to the Zhastar Sports Complex in Karaganda from 8 to 12 February. Men and women represented sixteen regions and three cities of republican significance.
The championship helped determine the updated national team roster as well as awarding domestic titles. FIAS identified it as a major selection meeting before the World Cup in Armenia, the Asia and Oceania championships in the Philippines and the world championships in Uzbekistan.
The Karaganda regional SAMBO federation organised the event. The official account establishes the scale and selection significance but does not name every weight-category champion. Participation totals therefore remain separate from medal claims, and this report does not imply that every competitor earned a place at a subsequent international tournament.
