Kiel end Flensburg’s European League unbeaten run
The German derby opened a main round that had been paused for eleven weeks.

Kiel came from behind at half-time to beat Flensburg 32–30 on the opening night of the men’s European League main round. It was their first victory over the domestic rivals in any competition since 2021 and ended Flensburg’s twenty-two-match unbeaten European League run.
Kiel and Melsungen were left as the only unbeaten clubs in the competition that season. Melsungen won 33–29 against Kristianstad after trailing by two late in the game and restricting the Swedish visitors to two goals over the final twelve minutes.
Montpellier defeated Bidasoa Irun 38–33, with David Balaguer scoring ten goals. Elverum, Aarhus, Benfica and Hannover-Burgdorf also opened with wins as the competition returned from an eleven-week winter break.
