Klaebo races clear in Toblach’s New Year pursuit
The Norwegian extended his Tour de Ski advantage with a solo 20km performance.
Source publication date:
Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo won the men’s 20km classic pursuit in Toblach for his 103rd individual World Cup victory. Starting forty-five seconds ahead of Lars Heggen, he increased the gap over the first three laps instead of waiting for the chasing group to approach.
Mattis Stenshagen broke away from that group during the fourth lap and finished second. Edvin Anger beat Federico Pellegrino in a photo finish for third, earning his second podium of the season as Stenshagen reached his third.
Klaebo’s fifth individual win of the winter left him leading the Tour de Ski with two stages remaining in Val di Fiemme. His controlled closing laps followed a strong opening effort on the cold Toblach track.
