Stian Langbakk won the men’s snowboard rail title at the Park and Pipe Junior World Championships in Calgary with 39.25 points. The Canadian finished exactly one point ahead of Finland’s Pyry Poiso, while Ukraine’s Dmytro Luchkin took bronze with 37.88.

Langbakk and Poiso received identical trick totals of 30.500. The Canadian’s variety score of 8.750, compared with 7.750 for his rival, decided the final after he had steadily increased his trick scores through qualification and the semifinal rounds.

The sixteen-year-old earned his first major international podium and Canada’s only top-three finish at these championships. Luchkin collected his third medal of the week, while the first junior championship rail competition brought the eight-day snowboard programme to a close.
