Liverpool and Leeds United drew 0-0 at Anfield on New Year’s Day. The hosts were seeking a fifth successive victory but created few clear openings in a Premier League encounter attended by 60,343 spectators.

Dominik Szoboszlai returned from suspension as Arne Slot made three starting changes. Lucas Perri saved efforts from Hugo Ekitike and Szoboszlai, while Virgil van Dijk narrowly missed with a header from a corner.

Leeds substitute Dominic Calvert-Lewin put the ball in the net late on, but he was offside when Sebastian Bornauw touched the cross into his path. Liverpool’s unbeaten sequence reached eight matches, although their run of wins was halted.
