Mercedes released the first images of the W17, revealing a revised silver and black livery for the new Formula 1 season. George Russell and Kimi Antonelli continue as teammates after the squad finished second in the previous constructors’ championship.

The car was designed around sweeping aerodynamic rules and, like its rivals, is smaller, narrower and lighter than its predecessor. Toto Wolff described the unveiling as a step in an ongoing development effort across the Brackley chassis operation and Brixworth power unit base.

Mercedes planned to run in the private Barcelona shakedown before holding a dedicated season launch on 2 February. Two further three-day tests in Bahrain would then provide opportunities to refine the package before racing began.
