Three first-half goals defeated Uzbekistan 3-0 in Sydney.
Source publication date:
DPR Korea marked their return to the Women’s Asian Cup finals with a 3-0 victory over Uzbekistan. Myong Yu-jong scored every goal before half-time at Western Sydney Stadium, giving the three-time champions an emphatic beginning to their Group B campaign.
Myong converted an early rebound after the Uzbekistan defence blocked an initial header. The Central Asian side then had to replace injured goalkeeper Maftuna Jonimqulova, leaving substitute Zarina Saidova to enter under pressure during a difficult opening period.
Two penalties completed Myong’s hat-trick, the second following a VAR-confirmed handball. Uzbekistan defended more steadily after the interval but could not change the result, with DPR Korea keeping a clean sheet before their next match against Bangladesh and Uzbekistan preparing to face China PR.
