Nigeria defeated Algeria 2-0 in the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals, producing the decisive goals shortly after a goalless first half. Victor Osimhen scored the opener and then helped create Akor Adams’ second goal.

Osimhen headed in Bruno Onyemaechi’s cross in the 47th minute for his fourth goal of the tournament. Ten minutes later he released Adams, who rounded goalkeeper Luca Zidane before finishing into an empty net to extend the advantage.

Algeria pushed forward in search of a response but could not break down Nigeria’s organised defence. The Super Eagles protected the two-goal lead and advanced to a semi-final against hosts Morocco, their sixteenth appearance in the tournament’s last four according to CAF’s report.
