Nika Prevc won the women’s World Cup contest in Sapporo with 279.4 points from jumps of 129.0 and 128.0 metres. The Slovenian’s twelfth victory of the season was also her first podium at the Japanese venue.

Abigail Strate moved from third to second with a 130-metre final jump and finished 5.5 points behind. Anna Odine Stroem also rose one place to complete the podium, while home favourite Nozomi Maruyama dropped from second to fourth.

Prevc had now won World Cup events at eighteen different venues, matching Sara Takanashi’s all-time record. The result increased her overall standings lead over Maruyama to 408 points, with another Sapporo competition scheduled for the following day.
