Odermatt wins fifth consecutive Adelboden giant slalom
The Swiss skier established a new sequence record on the Chuenisbaergli.
Source publication date:
Marco Odermatt won the Adelboden giant slalom in 2:31.23, becoming the first skier to win the race five years in succession. His performance surpassed the four-race sequence he had shared with Ingemar Stenmark.
Lucas Pinheiro Braathen finished second, 0.49 seconds behind, and Leo Anguenot took third at 0.68 seconds. Poor visibility and an icy course challenged the field, with Marco Schwarz and Stefan Brennsteiner failing to finish the second run.
Odermatt reclaimed the giant slalom standings lead after Brennsteiner’s exit. The victory also gave him forty-six career giant slalom podiums, level with Michael von Gruenigen. Pinheiro Braathen celebrated his first giant slalom podium at a venue where he had suffered a serious knee injury.
