Pakistan named a sixteen-player squad for its three-match T20 international series against Australia, beginning on 29 January. Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi returned after missing the earlier series in Sri Lanka, giving the side established options before the World Cup.

Salman Ali Agha remained captain. Shadab Khan, who had recently returned after six months away from the national setup, was also selected, joining Abrar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz and Usman Tariq among Pakistan’s spin resources.

The Australia matches offered a final opportunity to refine the combination before the tournament in India and Sri Lanka. Pakistan was drawn in Group A alongside India, the United States, Namibia and the Netherlands, while Australia entered Group B.
