Pakistan and England qualified for the men's World Cup by winning semi-finals in Ismailia. England defeated Malaysia 7–1, while Pakistan overturned a two goal deficit to beat Japan 4–3 in a dramatic closing sequence.
England led by one at half-time before scoring six after the interval. Sam Hooper and Stuart Rushmere each finished with two goals, while Zach Wallace received the player of the match award for a performance that helped open the contest.
Pakistan trailed 3–1 before three late goals transformed its match. Afraz supplied the eventual winner, and Ali Raza saved a Japanese penalty stroke immediately afterward to preserve the result. Egypt also beat Austria 4–0, setting up a fifth place match against China.
