Alajuela hosted 21 countries across sport, combat and beach competition.
Source publication date:
The United States finished first overall at the Pan-American SAMBO Championships in Alajuela, ahead of Venezuela and host Costa Rica. Competition at Polideportivo Monserrat ran from 9 to 11 July and brought together athletes from 21 countries.
The programme covered men’s and women’s sport and combat SAMBO in seven weight categories, alongside beach events in four categories and mixed-team competition. The United States led the men’s sport, combat and beach standings and the team event. Venezuela topped women’s sport and combat, while Costa Rica led women’s beach SAMBO.
Competition followed professional-development sessions for coaches on 6–7 July and referees on 7–8 July. Participants completed examinations for certification categories, linking the continental championship to officiating and coaching capacity. The federation’s 13 July account confirmed the team rankings without reducing the event to a single discipline’s medal table.
