The sixth seed maintained her unbeaten record against Amanda Anisimova.
Source publication date:
Jessica Pegula defeated Amanda Anisimova 6–2, 7–6(1) to reach the Australian Open semifinals for the first time. The American ended a run of Melbourne quarterfinal exits from 2021 to 2023 and secured her third career Grand Slam semifinal appearance.
Pegula established a 4–1 lead in the opening set with two early service breaks. Anisimova created opportunities in the second, including a 5–3 advantage, but Pegula recovered. Although she failed to serve out the match at 6–5, she dominated the tiebreak.
The victory improved Pegula’s record against Anisimova to 4–0 and gave her fourteen wins in her previous fifteen matches against Americans. It set up a semifinal with Elena Rybakina and reinforced Pegula’s progression after reaching the 2024 US Open final and 2025 semifinals.
